Spay and Neuter Services

Spay and neuter services at Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital are scheduled from Monday through Friday. The procedure includes pre-operative blood work, an IV catheter and fluids, an e-collar, and a pre-operative exam. For more information or to schedule an appointment, you can call 951-244-3401. Vaccination Protocols

Canine Vaccine Protocol:

 

1. Puppies:

   - DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza):

     - Initial vaccination at 6-8 weeks of age, followed by boosters every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age.

     - Booster at 1 year.

   - Rabies:

     - First dose at 16 weeks of age.

     - Booster at 1 year.

   - Bordetella (Kennel Cough):

     - Initial dose at 8 weeks of age; booster every 6 months to 1 year depending on exposure.

   - Leptospirosis:

     - Initial dose at 12 weeks of age; booster at 16 weeks, then annually.

   - Lyme Disease:

     - Initial dose at 12 weeks of age; booster at 16 weeks, then annually.

   - Canine Influenza:

     - Initial dose at 6-8 weeks of age; booster 3-4 weeks later, then annually.

 

2. Adults:

     - Initial vaccination at 6-8 weeks of age, followed by boosters every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age.

     - Booster at 1 year.

   - Rabies:

     - First dose at 12-16 weeks of age.

     - Booster at 1 year.

   - Feline Leukemia (FeLV):

     - Initial dose at 8-12 weeks of age; booster 3-4 weeks later, then annually if at risk.

 

2. Adults:

   - FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia): Annually.

   - Rabies: Every 1-3 years, depending on local laws.

   - Feline Leukemia (FeLV): Annually if at risk.

   - FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus): Annually if at risk.
